£8 million Longbridge Growth Fund
St. Modwen, Centro and Birmingham City Council are working in collaboration to deliver the Longbridge Connectivity Package through the £8 million infrastructure package awarded in summer 2014 from the Government’s Local Growth Fund. This is based on a St. Modwen contribution of £3 million and the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership providing £5 million.
Aimed at attracting further investment, generating new jobs and unlocking future growth, the £8m Package is set to boost both the physical and digital infrastructure in the area and will also offer significant benefits to local residents.
Enhancements to transport connections will include an upgrade to Longbridge Rail Station, an M42 Connectivity Scheme with improvements to Longbridge Lane and enhanced links to the north and east of the city. A cycle link scheme, new bus interchange, park and ride facilities and provision of real time transport information using plasma display screens will also be provided.
The package also includes the installation of ultrafast broadband connections as part of the utilities package, acting as a partner in Birmingham’s bid to become a ‘Smart City’.
