Longbridge is one of the largest and most high-profile developments in the UK, regenerating one of the country’s most famous industrial names.

The site is already over 50% developed, it is a popular destination for businesses, families and day-trippers alike. They are drawn by our plentiful amenities, beautiful green spaces and opportunities for growth.

Key dates in the redevelopment of Longbridge:

  • February 2021 – Work begins on the infrastructure to transform the iconic 75 acre West Works site at Longbridge Business Park
  • July 2021 – St. Modwen sign a partnership deal with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to build 5,000 high quality, energy efficient homes on disused industrial land
  • November 2021 – Herbert’s Yard opens at Longbridge anchoring 1,300 jobs
  • 2022/ 2023 – Planning approved for Waters Corporation’s new facility at St Modwen’s Longbridge Business Park which reaches practical completion in October 2023
  • October 2023 – Sterling Pharmaceuticals announce they are to build a new 40,000 sq ft headquarters at Longbridge bringing over 150 new staff.
  • November 2023 – Blaise Veterinary Referral Hospital opens at Longbridge Business Park bringing around 100 new jobs.
  • February 2024 – Allsee Technologies seeks planning approval for landmark facility creating over 150 skilled jobs

Longbridge’s future is bright – the building of new homes and the arrival of new businesses are creating jobs in the area and this combination continues the establishment of Longbridge as a great community to live and work in.

So where does Longbridge go from here? The plans are extensive, and include:

  • 115,000 sq ft of refurbished office space in the retained historical buildings of the former MG site
  • 1,000 new homes on the 75-acre former MG site (subject to planning consent)
  • 165% biodiversity net gain will be achieved through a variety of means including 26 acres of broadleaf forest, one mile of river corridor opened, and 15 Olympic sized swimming pools of ponds
