Formerly home to the Austin Mini and world-renowned for its auto credentials, Longbridge has a truly rich heritage. When MG Rover closed in 2005, tradition merged with transformation and St Modwen set to work reinvigorating the site.
From the start, the focus has been to:
- Build a sustainable community and lasting legacy for Longbridge
- Nurture shared community values
- Inspire innovation
- Encourage investment
- Drive business growth
The positive impact on the site in the last 10 years is clear to see.
The Longbridge Innovation Centre and Devon Way were completed in 2007, followed by manufacturing units at The Cofton Centre a year later.
2011 saw the arrival of Bournville College, followed by the opening of the Town Centre with a new Sainsbury’s and the three-acre Austin Park. Marks & Spencer’s flagship Midlands store and other major retailers opened in 2015.
In 2017 St Modwen developed the bespoke, 180-bed medical accommodation for the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine. We also welcomed the ExtraCare retirement village, offering 260 beautifully appointed apartments for over 55s.
Today, Longbridge is a popular hub hosting local amenities, offices, beautiful parkland and plenty of opportunities for growth.
So far we have:
Generated 2,700 + homes
Created 6,000 + new jobs
Supported 150 + businesses
Around 50% of the planned regeneration has been completed so there is potential for much more.
Our plan is to continue making a difference to people living, working and investing in the West Midlands. Supporting our communities, building new ones and creating lasting legacies for a new generation of Longbridge.
